Contemplative pedagogy has become increasingly visible in higher education as faculty and students have sought ways to slow down, increase connections, and train the attention in a fast-paced, distracting world. This session facilitated by CITLS Distinguished Fellow Professor Chris Phillips on August 26, 2020 from 12-1 pm EDT, introduced faculty to the field of contemplative pedagogy and offered some simple yet powerful practices that faculty in any discipline can incorporate into courses this semester. Whether in a writing workshop or a lab session, interpreting graphs or analyzing paintings, contemplative pedagogy offers ways to increase focus, reduce stress, and build community—even through a screen.
